RAYSAC events and the After Prom Grand Finale (APGF), in particular, would not occur if it weren't for the many school representatives, sponsors, businesses and RAYSAC volunteers who contribute their time and their resources to provide a drug and alcohol free prom night for all youth in the Roanoke Valley.

After Prom Grand Finale Volunteer Opportunities

Mailings

  • One individual needed to assist with packets of information sent to all participating after prom school representatives. The volunteer will copy assemble, and organize mailing.  Approximately two hours. To be completed in January.
  • One individual also needed to mail out flyer scholarship flyers to school principal's guidance counselors and English teachers.  Approximately two hours.  To be completed in March.

Fund Raising

  • One individual needed to mail solicitation letters to businesses with follow up calls seeking donations such as free massage, free dinner, etc. for the school representative volunteers. These will be given out at mandatory representative meetings held in March and May.  Approximately two to three hours total in Feb. or March. This may be completed at home after working hours. Good communication skills needed.

Assistance With Car Giveaway

  • One individual needed to contact and organize "spots" where the car will be displayed. This is to advertise the event and encourage youth to participate in their schools after prom event. The car is usually displayed at various malls in the New River Area and Roanoke Valley. Approximately two to three hours in March. Good communication skills needed.
  • Assistance with personalizing nametags, score cards and school sign-in registration forms.  Approximately two to three hours in late May. Good computer skills needed.

Grand Finale Event Set-Up

  • Group needed to set up at Valley View Mall the night before the event including: stage, games, tables and chairs, hanging banners, etc.  Approximately two hours.

Assistance with Grand Finale Event

  • Individual or group needed to work pizza and drink tables, registration tables and "wacky Olympic" games.  From 12:00 - 3:00 on the day of the event.

Grand Finale Event break down and clean up

  • From 3:00 - 5:00 on the day of the event.
